Want to quickly preview your animations, perhaps position held objects according to certain frames? This Editor script allows you to play animations outside of Play mode, even if you don't have an animation controller set up.
To use:
- Place the file AnimationTesterWindow.cs in your Assets/Editor folder (create one if it doesn't already exist)
- Go to Window > Animation Tester to open the editor window. Maybe doc it somewhere.
- Drag the object you want to animate from your hierarchy to the TargetObject field of the editor window
- Choose your desired AnimationClip from your project's assets
- Choose PlaybackSpeed and whether to Loop
- Play, Pause, or drag to a certain point on the timeline to do your thing.
Remember to make sure your TargetObject has an Animator component with an appropriate Avatar and all that.
Made and tested for 3D only, seems to work fine with 2D as well. Let me know if you encounter errors.
Hope it helps someone! If it does, and you have the means, consider donating or buying me a Kofi <3
Good luck making your games!
